Sessions

A session represents a student’s interaction period with an assignment or challenge inside the web app.

What sessions track​

Sessions can include events such as:

  • Clicks and interactions
  • Focus changes
  • Which areas the student is looking at (docs vs code)
  • Total time spent

Sessions and direct uploads​

If a student uploads code directly (without working in the embedded environment), CodeSpell can create an “empty” session to envelop the resulting submission, keeping analytics consistent.
